MIRACULEUSE
Les débuts de l’église orthodoxe à PUCHLY
sont liés à la légende du XVIe siècle qui
raconte l’apparition de l’icône miraculeuse de la
Vierge Marie qui Nous Protège.
Sur une petite butte, où est maintenant située
l’église, poussait un énorme tilleul au pied duquel,
dans une cabane, vivait un pauvre malade souffrant d’une tuméfaction
des jambes. Un jour, lorsqu’il était plongé dans
une prière fervente, il a vu, accrochée à l’arbre,
une icône de la Sainte Vierge. Peut de temps après il
fut guéri. Le lieu a été appelé PUCHLY
(tuméfié – OPUCHLY dans le dialecte local). En
1756 une église a été érigée à l’endroit
de ce miracle. En 1771 l’église a été détruite
par incendie dans laquelle l’icône originale est aussi
disparue. L’église avec une copie de l’icône
originale qui est vénérée actuellement, a été érigée
en 1781. L’église a été plusieurs fois restaurée
et modifiée et aujourd’hui elle représente un lieu
de culte particulier. Plusieurs pèlerins y viennent chaque année.
Le grand tilleul, sur lequel l’icône miraculeuse est apparue,
est toujours là.
En 2007 un ouragan violent
en a cassé une grosse branche et
le père Pawel Lapinski a offert cette branche à Grazyna
Remiszewska, qui a décide d’en faire une sculpture intitulée « l’Arbre
Sacré ». Elle a travaillé sur cette sculpture à la
paroisse de Puchly de mai à septembre 2008 et ainsi l’arbre
légendaire est passé dans l'histoire de l'art contemporain.

HOLY TREE AND MIRACULOUS
IKON
The beginning
of the orthodox church in PUCHLY is related to the popular legend
of XVI-th century about the apparition of the icon of Protection
of Saint Mary. On a small hill, on which the orthodox church is
now, by a huge lime tree, in a small hut lived a poor, sick man
with swollen legs. One day, while praying ardently, he saw, fixed
to the tree an icon of Saint Mary. Soon after he healed. Since
then the place was called PUCHLY (swollen – in
the local dialect OPUCHLY).
In 1756, in
the place of this miracle, a church was built but it was destroyed
by the in 1771. The original icon disappeared too. The new church
was built in 1781 with the copy of the original icon in it. This
church, reconstructed and enlarged many times, is today a place
of a particular worship and every year many pilgrims come to this
Sanctuary of Saint Mary’s Protection.
The lime tree, on
which the miraculous icon appeared is still there. In 2007 a hurricane
broke a huge branch of this tree and the Fether Pawel Lapinski
gave it to Grazyna Remiszewska who wanted to make of it a sculpture
called “Holy Tree”.
From Mai to September 2008 she worked on it at the parish house
in Puchly and so the legendary tree moved from the old legend to
the history of the contemporary art.
